Solar Project: The Earth Ship

  tkjhlkj

Recycled Materials
This type of home takes lots of work but the results can be very comfy.

The old fashioned wood stove along with the hydronic in floor heating system will keep this earth ship home very warm in the winter. Sturdy earth filled used tires were built up in order to provide the walls between main rooms. The concrete roof was poured while the earth lay underneath. Once the concrete had set the earth was removed. Round holes on these earth covered roofs will allow light into the middle of the main rooms.

The posts used to allow a walkway between main rooms is an old maple tree the further reinforces the close links to nature.

Up close you can see the pop cans and tires crammed full with earth and a cement stucco. After several layers of stucco these walls will look a bit like adobe style with lots of wonderful curves.
