Germany with one third the land, less wind, less solar and fewer hydro resources, today produces more electricity from renewable energy sources than Ontario requires.
Detail
Given the increased levels of efficiency, higher production capabilities and increased production capacity Ontario could, within less than ten years, be powered by 100% renewable energy. Germany has proven that Ontario could do it by achieving fully 20% of electricity production from renewable energy sources in the first six months of 2011.
By enhancing the Green Energy Act (GEA) in Ontario to more closely match the German model, Ontario could boldly lead the world towards a clean stable renewable energy driven economic engine. Even under the current policy combined, if combined with long term certainty, Ontario is well on track to achieve this objective. Only political uncertainty driven by partisan politics, no doubt funded by oil/nuclear, puts this great leap forward in jeopardy. Now is the time to fight for a stable economy that can only be achieved with a stable supply of local renewable energy. On top of that we'll save thousands of lives that would other wise be lost to deadly air pollution. There is only one logical choice for our children's future. Now is the critical moment to actively make the choice for a stable, renewable energy driven economy. Time is literally running out on our chance to avert catastrophic runaway global warming. Read the science and learn how we likely have less than ten years to turn things around. The only solution that can be implemented that fast is renewable energy.
