Eight Green homes were featured on a Prince Edward County Green Homes Tour organized by the County Sustainability Group as part of the 2009 Sustainable Living Symposium at Loyalist College in Belleville. Learn from the people who have done it and see how easy it can be to switch to sustainable alternatives.
Five of these homes were filmed by Loyalist College students and a video was produced "Prince Edward County Green Homes". Below watch the series of 5 videos of homeowners who have gone green.
Learn how Don started using green electricity from Bullfrog Power, then paid for a solar PV system by eliminating a second car. His solar PV system pays about half the cost of his 8.9 cent/kW Bullfrog Power electricity since he gets paid 42 cents/kW for the Solar PV electricity through the government of Ontario Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP), now called the REFIT, FIT or MicroFIT (FIT stands for Feed-In Tariff). Don has also implemented a heat pump, solar thermal, composting, and a solar clothes dryer (the good old clothes line). About two years ago the garden power mower was traded in for a brand new push mower that takes as little time to use and never runs out of gas. Learn lots more from this great video.
Where can I find tours of green homes that feature solar panels, renewable energy, hybrid cars, solar thermal, geo thermal, composting, and other efficiency measures?
